ARTIST STATEMENT
REGARDLESS OF THE MEDIUM, I APPROACH MY ARTWORK WITH SPONTANEITY; ALLOWING ROOM FOR inspiration and the CONTEMPLATION OF an OUTCOME. spontaneity provides an outlet for my inner child. INSPIRATION PRODUCES A SKETCH OR THEME. CONTEMPLATION predicts the MEDIUM. and MEDIUM REGULATES THE OUTCOME.

BIO
My life as an artist began instinctively at an early age. That instinct was interrupted by the practicality needed to raise my family. during that time, I began a home-based design business; working with local interior designers.
From my basement workroom, I designed, constructed, and ultimately became proficient at installing custom window treatments. This business fulfilled my creativity for 20 years. As the housing market and the economy began to drop out in the early 2000’s, it became apparent that I needed to shift my creative energies.
at 50, I enrolled in a drawing class at a local gallery. The following summer, I nervously enrolled in classes at our community college. With each class, I was surprised by the encouragement I received from my instructors and professors. In the process, I have uncovered my true artist-self.
I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art in 2018 at fontbonne university in st. louis, mo where i am currently enrolled in their graduate program. Once I’ve finished a Master of Fine Arts, I plan to be a working artist and teacher, focused in ceramic sculpture and photography.
